OATMEAL BROWNIES


Ingredients:

1-1/2 cups instant oatmeal
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp brown sugar
1/4 tsp baking soda
1/4 cup + 2 tbsp MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED, softened
1 (500 g) pack MAGNOLIA FAST & EASY BAKE FUDGE BROWNIE MIX
2 tbsp water
2 tbsp cooking oil
1 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGG
1/4 cup slivered almonds (optional)

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease bottom of an 8”x8”x2” pan with shortening or butter. Set aside.
  2. Mix oats, flour, sugar and baking soda in a bowl. Stir in butter. Reserve at least 1/4 cup of oat mixture. Press remaining oat mixture in the greased pan. Bake for 10 minutes then cool for 5 minutes.
  3. In another bowl, combine brownie mix, water, oil and egg. Blend well. Stir in almonds. Carefully pour brownie mixture into the pan with baked oat mixture. Sprinkle with reserved oat mixture.
  4. Bake for 40-45 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out almost clean. Cool completely before cutting and serving.
Makes 10 servings.
