APPLE WALNUT CAKE


Ingredients:

2-1/4 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1-1/2 cups sugar
1/2 tbsp baking soda
3/4 tsp iodized fine salt
1/2 tbsp cinnamon
3/4 tsp nutmeg
1/4 tsp allspice
5 cups peeled, cored, and chopped red apples
3/4 cup coarsely chopped walnuts
3/4 cup raisins
3/4 cup BAKER'S BEST MARGARINE, melted
2 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS

STREUSEL CRUMBS

1/2 cup MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/2 cup sugar
1 tsp cinnamon
dash nutmeg
1/4 cup BAKER’S BEST MARGARINE, softened

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease and flour four 6” x 2” pan. Set aside.
  2. Sift together flour, sugar, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, nutmeg and all spice in a bowl. Set aside.
  3. Place chopped apples, walnuts and raisins in a large bowl. Add sifted dry ingredients and mix in margarine and eggs. Mix lightly. Pour into prepared pans and top with streusel crumbs. Bake for 50 minutes. Let cool in pan.
  4. Streusel crumbs: Mix first four streusel ingredients then cut in margarine into flour mixture until crumbly.
Variation: Bake in small loaf pans then reduce baking time to 40 minutes. Makes 12-15 servings.
