SPICY BEEF PARES


Ingredients:

1/4 cup cooking oil
2 tbsp ginger, sliced
2 tbsp garlic, chopped
1/2 cup onion, chopped
1 kg MONTEREY BEEF CAMTO, sliced into 1” cubes
1/2 cup soy sauce
1 tsp black pepper
1/2 cup sugar
4 cups beef broth
2 pc star anise
1/4 cup cornstarch, dissolved in
1/4 cup water
1 tbsp sesame oil
1/2 cup green onions, chopped
1/4 cup chili garlic sauce

Procedure:

  1. Saute ginger, garlic and onions with oil in a medium saucepot.
  2. Add in beef pieces then cook for 5-8 minutes.
  3. Add in soy sauce, black pepper, sugar, beef broth and star anise. Let boil then reduce heat to low.
  4. Cover pot and cook until beef is tender. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Stir in cornstarch slurry to thicken sauce.
  6. Continue to simmer for another 5 minutes.
  7. Remove from heat then drizzle sesame oil.
  8. Serve over rice or cooked pasta.
  9. Top with chopped spring onions and a teaspoon of chili garlic sauce.
