PEAR SHAPED HAM ALA NARANJA


Ingredients:

1 kg PUREFOODS PEAR-SHAPED HAM

GLAZE:

1/2 cup red wine (optional)
1 cup orange juice
1 pc bay leaf (laurel)
1 cup brown sugar
1/4 cup brown sugar (for glazing)
2 (100 g) pc ponkan oranges, sliced for garnishing
8 pc cherries, with stem
parsley, for garnish

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven at 375°F. Place ham in an oven-proof dish. Set aside.
  2. In a bowl, combine red wine, orange juice, bay leaf and 3/4 cup brown sugar. Mix well until sugar is completely dissolved. Pour on ham and bake for 10-15 minutes, basting with sauce 3-4 times. Remove from oven, loosely cover with foil and set aside.
  3. Arrange orange slices in circular form. Sprinkle with 1/4 cup brown sugar and bake again for another 5 minutes. Place ham in a serving platter. Boil remaining sauce, if any left, until thick. Pour on ham once again Garnish with orange slices, cherries and parsley.
