Makes 5 to 6 servings.
- Dissolve 1 cup sugar over moderate heat to caramelize. Pour evenly on bottom and sides of mold. Set aside.
- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- In a mixing bowl, combine egg yolks and whole egg. Add remaining 1/2 cup sugar and milk. Mix thoroughly but gently so as not to form air bubbles. Pour into prepared caramel-lined pan.
- Put the pan in a large, shallow baking pan containing water. Bake for 45 minutes.
