KUCHINTA


Ingredients:

1 tbsp cooking oil, for greasing molds
2 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1-1/2 (312 g) cups dark brown sugar
3 (720 g) cups water
1/2 tbsp lye (lihia)
1 pc fresh grated coconut, for topping

Procedure:

  1. Grease with oil 24 pc puto molds (2.5 inch in diameter). Set aside. Prepare steamer.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, sugar, water and lye. Mix well until sugar is dissolved. Rest mixture for 15 minutes to reduce the bubbles of the mixture.
  3. Pour mixture into prepared puto molds. Steam for 30 to 45 minutes until set.
  4. Serve with grated coconut.

Makes 24 pieces.
