HABAS ALA CATALANA (BEANS WITH SAUSAGES) BY SYLVIA REYNOSO GALA


Ingredients:

1 can (210 g) PUREFOODS CHORIZO BILBAO STYLE, finely chopped, with fat from can
1/4 cup olive oil
1/4 cup crushed garlic
1/4 cup chopped green onions
1 pc bay leaf (laurel)
200 grams PUREFOODS DELI BEEF FRANKS, sliced diagonally into 1/2 pieces
4 cups canned or bottled fava (white) beans
1/3 cup white wine
1/3 cup water
1/2 tsp pepper
12 pc thinly-sliced baguette or any crusty bread
parsley or mint leaves for garnish

Procedure:

  1. Place chorizo bilbao with fat, olive oil and garlic in a saucepot. Cover and cook over high heat until garlic is brown.
  2. Add remaining ingredients and boil for a few minutes.
  3. Transfer to a deep platter and serve with bread. Garnish with mint leaves or parsley.

Makes 5-6 servings.
