FRUIT CAKE BARS


Ingredients:

4 cups glazed fruits
1 cup cherry brandy
1-1/2 cups chopped walnuts
4 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1 tsp baking soda
1 tsp all spice
1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
1/2 tsp ground cloves
1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
4 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS, beaten
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1-1/2 cups BAKER'S BEST MARGARINE, melted
1/4 cups molasses

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 300⁰F. Grease and flour an 11" x 16" baking pan. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine glazed fruits, cherry brandy and walnuts. Let stand for 3 - 4 hours.
  3. Sift together flour, baking soda, and spices.
  4. In a mixer, put fruit mixture then add beaten eggs, sifted dry ingredients, brown sugar, melted Baker's Best margarine, and molasses. Mix well until well blended. Transfer mixture to prepared pan.
  5. Bake for 1 hour. Cool. Brush with brandy then cut into bars. 

Makes 36 pieces.
