FRANKS AND CHILI


Ingredients:

1 (500 g) pack PUREFOODS DELI ANGUS FRANKS, each sliced into 6 pieces
1/3 cup cooking oil
2 tbsp minced garlic
1/3 cup chopped onions
1/4 kg MONTEREY GROUND ROUND BEEF
1/4 tsp each cumin, cayenne, chili powder, oregano & paprika
iodized fine salt, sugar and pepper to taste
1 pc bay leaf (laurel)
2 tbsp tomato paste
3/4 cup water
1 cup cooked red kidney beans
fresh lemon juice to taste

Procedure:

  1. Heat oil in a sauté pan. Add franks and cook for 2-3 minutes, stirring occasionally. Remove from pan and set aside.
  2. In the same pan, sauté garlic, onions and beef. Add spices and mix well.
  3. Add tomato paste and blend well. Pour in water and add the beans. Let simmer for a few minutes and season to taste. Return franks to the pan and let simmer for a few minutes more.
  4. To finish, add a dash of fresh lemon juice. Transfer to a serving dish and serve.

Makes 6 servings.
