FISH NUGGETS IN FIVE SPICE SAUCE


Ingredients:

2 (200 g) pack PUREFOODS SEAFOOD DELIGHTS FISH NUGGETS, cooked according to package directions
3 tbsp COOKBEST COCONUT OIL
1/2 tbsp cracked peppercorns
3 cloves garlic, minced
1 pc sili labuyo, sliced and deseeded
1 pc sliced and deseeded sliling haba (finger pepper)
1 (50 g) pc finely chopped red bell pepper
1 (50 g) pc finely chopped green bell pepper
1 (10 g) stalk green onion, chopped
1 tbsp store bought toasted garlic

Sauce

1/4 cup rice wine
2 tbsp dark soy sauce
1 tbsp rice vinegar
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp five spice powder
1/8 tsp iodized fine salt
1/4 tsp pepper
1 tbsp cornstarch
1/4 cup broth

Procedure:

  1. In a large bowl, combine sauce ingredients and mix well. Set aside.
  2. Heat oil in a pan over high heat, combine cracked peppercorns, garlic, sili labuyo, siling haba and bell peppers. Cook until aromatic. Add sauce and stir until mixture thickens.
  3. Just before serving, quickly toss in fish nuggets until coated. Top with green onions and toasted garlic.

Makes 5 servings.

(Yield: 1 cup sauce)
