Spooky Spider Web Cake



  1. Preheat oven or oven toaster to 350° F.
  2. Grease and line 4 round 6“ X 2“ pans with butter. Pour each cake batter into a pan and bake for 15 minutes or until done.Set aside to cool.
  3. For the boiled icing:In a bowl, combine egg whites and cream of tartar. In a pan, boil water and sugar until thick to about 255°F using a candy thermometer. At this time, start beating egg whites at high speed. Lower mixer speed when temperature of syrup reaches 260°F.Slowly pour in half of the sugar syrup in as steady stream. Add remaining sugar syrup at high speed, continue mixing until fluffy.
  4. To assemble, layer chocolate cake, icing, and carrot cake. Repeat procedure to make a 4 layer cake.Decorate cake with the remaining icing to make a spider wed. Top with candy spiders.

Makes 1 cake.
