TORTA DEL HOMBRE


Ingredients:

3 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1 tbsp baking powder
1 (225 grams) bar MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED
2/3 cup brown sugar, lightly packed
5 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS, egg yolks and whites separated
1/3 cup orange juice
1/2 cup cherry brandy
1 tsp orange rind
1 tsp orange extract
1 cup sugar
1/2 cup coarsely chopped nuts (walnuts or cashew)

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Grease a 10” X 4” tube pan. Set aside.
  2. Sift together flour and baking powder. Set aside.
  3. In a bowl, Cream butter then add brown sugar. Mix until smooth. Add yolks one at a time, blending well after each addition. Add sifted ingredients alternately with juice, brandy and rind. Mix until well blended. Add orange extract. Set aside.
  4. In another bowl, beat egg whites and sugar until stiff peaks form. Fold in to creamed mixture and add walnuts. Pour into prepared pan and bake for 1 hour.
Makes 8 to 10 servings.
