Ingredients:

12 pc PUREFOODS TENDER JUICY HOTDOGS JUMBO
2 tsp baking soda, dissolved in 2 cups warm water
2 cups water
1 tbsp baking soda
2 tbsp iodized rock salt

DOUGH:

1/2 tbsp active dry yeast
1/2 cup warm water
2 cups MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1 tbsp sugar
1/2 tsp iodized fine salt and pepper to taste
1 tbsp cooking oil

Procedure:

  1. Blanch hotdogs in hot water for 2-3 minutes. Drain. Set aside.
  2. Preheat oven to 400°F. Grease and line a cookie sheet with baking paper. Set aside.
  3. Dough: Add yeast to 1/2 cup water. Let it stand for 5 minutes. Combine 1 cup flour, sugar, salt and oil in a bowl. Add dissolved yeast and stir well. Add remaining flour and mix until a ball is formed. Knead dough for 3 minutes. Let it sit on a well-oiled bowl covered for 1 hour or until dough has doubled in volume. Divide dough into 12 pieces and roll out into 1/4” thin strips, about 2 feet long.
  4. Flatten the dough strips then wrap around a piece of hotdog. Do the same with the rest of the dough and hotdogs. Set aside.
  5. Mix 2 cups of water, baking soda and salt. Dip wrapped hotdogs in water mixture. Gently pat dry excess water with paper towels then place wrapped hotdogs on prepared baking sheet. Bake for 8-10 minutes.
Makes 10 to 12 servings.
