SACHER TORTE


Ingredients:

CAKE:

1/2 cup MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/2 cup cocoa powder
1/8 tsp iodized fine salt
6 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS
1 cup sugar
1/2 tsp vanilla extract
3 tbsp MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED, melted
1/2 cup apricot jam, warmed

CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

1 cup chopped semi-sweet chocolates
1/4 cup MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Lightly grease and line two 8” round pans with wax paper.
  2. Sift together flour, cocoa powder and salt. Set aside. In another bowl, beat eggs until lemon colored. Add sugar and continue beating until thick. Fold dry ingredients into the egg mixture. Fold in vanilla and butter.
  3. Pour into prepared pans then bake for 10 to 15 minutes or until done. Cool and remove cakes from pan. Spread jam in between cake layers. Top torte with warm chocolate glaze and let it set.

CHOCOLATE GLAZE:

  1. Melt chocolate in a heat proof bowl over a saucepan of simmering water, stirring frequently. Add butter and mix until completely melted. Use immediately while still warm and spreadable.

Makes 10 to 12 servings.
