CHICKEN AND SAUSAGE GUMBO

In a large pan over medium heat, combine the oil and flour. Mix until bubbly then lower the heat. Continue mixing to avoid burning. When mixture has turned slight dark brown in color, add in the onions and garlic. Bring heat to medium then add in the franks and chicken. Cook until chicken changes in color. Add in the okra and water. Bring mixture to a boil. Cook until chicken is done and the liquid thickened. Turn off heat then add in the lemon juice and season with salt and pepper to taste. For added spice, add in cayenne pepper to desired spice level.
