CHEEZEE TIKOY TURON


Ingredients:

1/2 pc tikoy, cut into 2" x 1/2" strips (from a 9" whole tikoy, makes about 10-12 pc)
1/2 cup MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
2 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS, beaten
1-1/2 cups brown sugar
1/4 cup DARI CREME CLASSIC
12 pc lumpia wrappers
1 (160 g) pack MAGNOLIA CHEEZEE, cut into 2" x 1/2" strips
2 cups cooking oil for frying

Procedure:

  1. Dredge tikoy in flour, dip in beaten eggs then roll in 1 cup brown sugar. Pan-fry in a non-stick frying pan with margarine until sugar caramelizes. Remove from heat.
  2. Put a piece of fried tikoy and cheese in the center of a lumpia wrapper. Roll and fold sides. Seal. Do the same with the rest of the ingredients.
  3. Heat oil in a pan. Deep-fry turon in batches until golden brown. Sprinkle remaining sugar into the oil and wait for it to melt and caramelize and stick to turon. Drain on paper towels. Let cool slightly.
Makes 12 pieces.
