BUTTER CHEWIES


Ingredients:

1/2 cup MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED
1/4 cup light syrup
3 pc MAGNOLIA BROWN EGGS
2 cups brown sugar
2 cups + 2 tbsp MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1/4 cup powdered milk
1-1/2 tsp BAKE BEST BAKING POWDER
1 tsp vanilla extract
1/2 cup MAGNOLIA FULL CREAM MILK
1/2 cup chopped walnuts

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 325°F. Grease and line a 9” x 13” baking pan with foil.
  2. In a saucepan, melt butter and light syrup over low heat until melted. Set aside to cool.
  3. In a bowl, beat eggs and brown sugar until mixture is very foamy and light brown in color.
  4. In another bowl, sift dry ingredients together. Make a well at the center of the dry ingredient mixture. Pour butter-syrup mixture, egg-sugar mixture, vanilla and milk. Mix well.
  5. Transfer to prepared baking pan. Top with walnuts. Bake for 30 to 40 minutes. Cut into bars.

Makes 40 bars.
