BAKED PENNE


Ingredients:

200 grams penne, cooked according to package directions

Tomato Sauce

1/4 cup MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED
1 tbsp minced garlic
3 tbsp tomato paste
1 cup tomato sauce
1/2 cup beef broth
1 tbsp chopped fresh basil
iodized fine salt and pepper to taste

Cream Sauce

1/4 cup MAGNOLIA GOLD BUTTER UNSALTED
2 tbsp MAGNOLIA ALL PURPOSE FLOUR
1 cup MAGNOLIA FULL CREAM MILK
1/2 cup MAGNOLIA CREAM CHEESE, softened
iodized fine salt and pepper to taste

Procedure:

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F.
  2. For the tomato sauce, melt butter in a saucepan. Sauté garlic then add tomato paste. Cook for a minute then add tomato sauce. Simmer for another minute then add beef broth. Simmer for 2 minutes more. Add basil and season to taste. Set aside.
  3. For the cream sauce, melt butter in a saucepan. Add flour and using a whisk, stir until mixture is smooth and thick. Over low heat, slowly pour milk and stir continuously until mixture becomes smooth. Add cream cheese and continue to cook until cheese melts. Season with salt and pepper. Once mixture becomes smooth and slightly thick, remove from heat and set aside.
  4. To assemble, toss cooked penne in tomato sauce and transfer to an 8" x 8" baking dish. Pour cream mixture on top and spread evenly.
  5. Bake for 10 to 15 minutes.
Makes 3-4 servings. Tip/s: You can substitute 1/2 tsp dried basil for 1 tbsp chopped basil.
